Job Description

Whistler Olympic Park is a world-class destination for outdoor recreation activities & Nordic sports, located just south of Whistler in the stunning Callaghan Valley. Established for the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, the Park’s incredible facilities are now enjoyed by both high-performance athletes and recreational guests alike.

Maintenance and Operations Worker provides general site maintenance of the Whistler Olympic Park. Responsibilities include facility maintenance, custodial duties and manual snow clearing. Temporary Full Time role requires flexibility to work weekends and evenings.

Winter season 2024 / 2025 role commences September 2024

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Work with and under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance and Sport Operations, and other Operations staff
• Manually clear snow from around buildings, walkways, stairs, and other areas, as directed
• General site maintenance and other operational tasks
• Snowmaking if required and dependent upon the snow season
• Lift operations duties including assisting with the safe uploading and downloading of athletes, coaches, staff, and visitors when required
• Ski Jump preparation
• Custodial duties on an as needed basis
• Assisting Patrol and Grooming departments when required
• Operate all equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Adhere to WorkSafeBC, Technical Safety BC and applicable governing agency’s safety regulations
• Interact with volunteers to ensure their inclusion in department team
• Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ AIM philosophy: All Interactions Matter
• Assist the team with other duties as assigned or required

Position Requirements
Education/Experience
• Experience in snowy environments
• Experience operating snowmobiles an advantage
• Experience operating skid steer equipment an asset
• High rope certification or experience with ropes an asset
• Knowledge of radio protocol preferred
• Safety conscious to ensure safety of guests, athletes, staff
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and abstract required

• Ability to communicate effectively
• Keen and can-do attitude
• Flexible and adaptable to work efficiently in variety of settings and to work weekends and evenings

• Handy-man skills an asset
• Self-directed entrepreneurial spirit is essential
• Willingness to assist other team members (perhaps outside the department) as needed and requested
• Exceptional customer service is essential

Physical Requirements
• Reliable winter transportation as WOP is not serviced by transit
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather winter conditions
• Ability to stand for long periods of time performing physically demanding tasks
• Ability to regularly lift 50lbs

Salary/Wage

$22.00 to $24.50 per hour
